The Park

Before it got too cold, we went to the park.  James was a monkey as usual...

Emma helping James on the playground.

He has no fear when it comes the slide.  He must have gone down thirty times.

Emma and James enjoyed the seesaw.

Emma loved climbing tppf.

Sisterly love.

James tried really hard to climb this wall but he will need a little bit more time before he can conquer this one.

Emma We all had a great afternoon at the park...and just in time because it got very cold the next week.

Doing it Again

They're doing it again...Emma and James are growing up in the blink of an eye!  Here are some things that they have been up to lately.

James still eats all the time.  His favorite foods right now are: tomatoes, Brussels sprouts, raspberries, strawberries, apples, meatballs, and yogurt.  He loves getting a juice box and he wonders why we kept them from him for so long.  He will drop anything he is doing if you say, "James do you want to go get some milk?"

He completely understands everything we say and do.  He will respond with head nods for yes and no which is very helpful.  His favorite words are: Mama, Dada, cat, dog, and that.  He has said Sis, tree and umbrella on a couple of occasions.

Emma is becoming so grown up.  She has very thoughtful conversations with us now and asks questions incessantly.  Tonight I played Go Fish with her and after she asked if I had any swordfish, I gave her three from my hand.  Since that gave her a match, she said, "Sweet!"  She won that game of Go Fish as she always does...I don't even let her win anymore, but she still does.

She is 100% girl...if there is something pink, frilly or related to a princess, she is in.  She came up to Josh last weekend in this outfit and said, "I'm fancy."  She definitely is!  For about two weeks straight, she wore a tiara to school.  She'd wear a princess dress every day if I would let her.

She is THE best big sister.  She watches over James so sweetly.  On Fridays at school, they get prizes with the dollars they earn during the week.  For three weeks straight, she picked something out for James instead of herself.  When James was first starting to walk, I told her that he walked from the bathroom all the way to the couch by himself.  She squealed, clapped and said, "Oh James, that deserves a hug" and gave him the biggest squeeze.

She must be going through a growth spurt because she is a bottomless pit lately.  She was never a big fan of fruit, but over the last couple of months she has branched out and now loves strawberries, watermelon, grapes, bananas, apples, raspberries and pineapple.

James started walking some over the weekend of October 25.  Then by the week of November 4, he was walking more than he was crawling.  Now there is no stopping him.  He thinks he can go as fast as his sister and he tries to run and then he face plants into the floor.  He always has a bump on his forehead.  He can climb up on the couch now so it's a good thing we taught him how to get down from the couch a couple of weeks ago.  He is the most curious little thing I've ever seen.  He takes after his daddy in too many areas to count.  But he takes after me  in that he is a hugger and snuggler.  I love it!

Emma is so smart.  She is really taking to reading lately.  She already knew the alphabet and the sounds that each letter made, but just recently she has started to read and spell.  We'll be driving and all of a sudden she'll say, "Mommy, that sign says GO."  She makes cards at school and she writes "I Love        From Emma."  She can spell Mommy, Daddy and James by herself so she typically fills in the blank with one of those.

She is happy and giggly and a rule follower.

He is happy and giggly and rule breaker.

A Touch of My Own life

My life revolves around my kids as any mother knows.  Every now and then a little touch of my own life ventures back into my world.

For work, I traveled to Chicago for training with my coworker, Alison.  Here we are at RPM Italian (Giuliana & Bill's restaurant).  Delicious!!

For the record, I did not ride on this...ferris wheels freak me out.  However, it was pretty and worth taking a picture of on the Chicago Navy Pier.

We had good drinks and great food

With our new friend, Michelle, who also works with our company.

Meanwhile at home...how cute is this little guy?!

I also took a cooking class - Easy Fall Entertaining.  Fun times!

And last but certainly not least, Ann Lindsey got married!!  Congratulations!

I also got to hang out with Alissa and Anna this past weekend.  We took no photos of ourselves unfortunately - next time I will try to remember.  Just know it was a good time.

Okay, enough about me.  Back to my regularly scheduled blogging about my kiddos next time.

All Things Halloween 2013

First on the agenda: Fall Festival dressed up as a Fairy Princess

Video of James dancing to the music

This is James mid-clap.  He is big into clapping these days.  He makes you feel like a famous person when you enter a room because he smiles, gasps and claps.  I personally love it!

Next up: School Halloween Parade dressed as Supergirl

James was a shark...isn't he the cutest?!

Final Destination: Halloween Block Party follow by Trick or Treating

This one is just because people tell me all the time that they don't believe James actually ever cries because he is so happy all the time...well here is proof.  The first couple of pictures turned out like this because he was irritated that we put the shark hat on him.

Hay ride with Harper

Before they took off, Emma shouted, "Mommy, take one more.  This one will be really cute."  She was right!

He was much happier after we took the head piece off of him...he was working his way towards the plate of food.  Not that he could possibly have been hungry since he had already eaten a plate full!

After trick or treating, we all met back up at the party.  Emma and Barrett decided to sit down after all of the walking and she devoured hotdog #2 of the night.

Emma's pumpkin.  I use that term loosely since she handed Josh a piece of paper with a drawing and said, "Daddy, here is a sketch of what my pumpkin should look like.  I'm going to the playroom to play with Mommy and James but let me know when you're done and I'll come look at it."  Classic diva.

Such a great Halloween - I can't wait until next year when James is walking from door to door with Emma!

A Little Mommy and A Little Rascal

Hat Day at school - she's so cute in a hat!

On the carousel at the mall.

This little guy is becoming more independent every day.  He takes a couple of steps at a time now and sometimes he focuses enough to take about five or six.  James is already pushing the boundaries and doesn't want to hear the word NO.  Not sure how to handle that yet.  I guess we'll figure it out as we go.

Emma is a little mommy.  She put my heels on, found some sunglasses and a purse and strolled her baby doll around the house.

She just HAD to bring it when we went out that day.  Everybody told her how cute she was as we walked around that afternoon...she really was.

They still love each other and want to be as close to each other as possible.  I'm sure that won't last too long, so I'm appreciating it while I can.

This is James' favorite toy.  He literally chases me around the house with it.  He cackles when he rams into my leg.  What am I going to do with this little rascal??
