Over Easter, we visited my parents for a few days. I wasn't sure how the long ride would go, but both kids actually did great.
James behaved {most of the time} and fell asleep fairly close to his actual bedtime.
Thankfully, we bought Emma some headphones, so she was able to continue watching Frozen even while James was sleeping. How is she not sick of that movie?!
Our first day there was very chilly, but she and I headed to beach during James' nap so she could enjoy a little bit of the sand and ocean.
Who doesn't love making sand castle after and sand castle on a cold, windy day at the beach?
Blythe and Jay met us at the beach and the two of them went right to work on a big moat and castle.
Going to get some water to fill up the moat.
Emma decided it was too cold, so the next time, she asked Jay to get it all himself. He graciously did it.
Dumping in the water.
Back for one more round. Although Jay was still the one to get in the water, Emma joined Jay for the walk down to ocean.
Once they finished their masterpiece, they ran through it.
And stomped it away.
Emma decided it was time to make sand angels.
Jay agreed and hopped in.
Such cute cousins!
She also found some time to play the guitar...
... and visit the mermaids with our friends, Nancy, Summer and Sophia.
Of course we had to see the Easter Bunny! James was not feeling the big bunny, so he avoided him at all cost.
However, James was all over the candy after the egg hunt. Thank you to my mom for making both kids outfits!
The Easter Bunny found Emma and James even though we were away from home. Phew.
James and Jay playing football.
James quite enjoyed his strawberry pie after lunch.
My mom's parents with the kids. So sweet!
Me and my boy.
He's getting so big...and more curious every day.
My parents' neighbor, Francis, let Emma ride their horse, Ant. Emma remembered right where to climb up the stairs to get on Ant even before the horse arrived.
She really loves riding and is so good with the horse now. This is her third time riding Ant.
Of COURSE James couldn't stand it...He absolutely had to get up on the horse.
After a few minutes, he took over all by himself. He was happy and content.
Francis said that James seemed like a cowboy up there...calm, cool and collected. Nobody ever describes James like that. I'm pretty sure I need to buy a horse.
Emma had one more turn after James got off. Francis said that Emma seemed much more confident this time than she has in the past. I'm so proud of her for doing so well.
On the long trek back home, we let the kids get out some energy at the playground at Chick-fil-A. It took extra time, but it was worth it. They had so much fun.
As always, James kept us laughing on the trip home. He thought he was pretty funny with these glasses on top of his head.
It was a great trip home! We already miss everyone!
